Flora Sinensis

The only work published during the author`s lifetime, was published in Vienna in 1656 by the Mateo Ricci publishing house, as the first systematic description of the nature of the Far East in Europe. The work contains a description and hand-made drawings of plants that he met in India and China and previously unknown in Europe, such as lychee, banana, and animals and other historical facts. Boym`s original work has 75 cards and 23 engravings by him with Chinese characters attached. Boym describes 22 plants, more than half of which are rather native to the Indian archipelago. Then follows a description of some Chinese mammals, birds, reptiles, etc. with two engravings. This work was never published in Polish. A copy of the edition is in the Kórnik Library.
